The Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association (HPBA), based just outside of Washington, DC, is the North American industry association for manufacturers, retailers, distributors, representatives, service firms, and allied associates for all types of fireplace, stove, heater, barbecue, and outdoor living appliances and accessories. HPBA provides professional member services and industry support in government relations, events, market research, education, certifications, consumer education, and industry promotion.
National Fireplace Institute
The National Fireplace Institute® is the professional certification division of the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Education Foundation (HPBEF), a 501(c)3 non-profit educational organizations for the Hearth industry. NFI’s objective is to increase public safety by establishing meaningful credentials for professionals involved in planning and installing residential hearth appliances and venting systems.
HPB Education Foundation
NFI Certifications are valid for 3 years. New products and technology are constantly being introduced. Regardless of how long a person has been in the industry, it is important to keep up with the latest changes. Keeping current is critical for every person in the industry. Some people prefer to renew their certification by taking the exam every three years. NFI reviews and updates each exam on a regular basis to ensure that the information is correct and timely. All exams are available online. A testing room is also offered at the industry trade show, HPBExpo, every year. Any questions, please contact the NFI office at 703-524-8030.
National Chimney Sweep Guild
The National Chimney Sweep Guild (NCSG) is a 501 (c) (6) non-profit trade association that promotes the success of chimney and venting businesses. Our members benefit from industry-leading education, events and advocacy initiatives.
Members in each of NCSG’s six regions elect board members to represent their geographical region. In addition to regional directors, the membership elects two At-Large Directors from among its voting members and one Supplier Representative from among its Supplier members. Additionally, two At-Large Directors are nominated by the Governance Committee and confirmed by the board.
Chimney Safety Institute of America
The Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the education, training, and certification of chimney and venting industry-related professionals.
Additionally, we strive to advance public awareness about the dangers of chimney fires and other problems related to the maintenance and performance of chimney and venting systems through consumer education.
We’ve been the industry leader in chimney and venting education since 1983, and our nationally-recognized credentials include the CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep®, CSIA Certified Dryer Exhaust Technician®, CSIA Master Chimney Sweep®, and CSIA Certified Chimney Specialist®.
